Lauttasaari run – 10K at 34.15

This morning I had a “training race” around Lauttasaari. Last year my time was something like 33.55 but this year there was one more block to corner so I think the pace was quite the same. The major difference to last year was that today I didn’t compete at 100%, this was really just a hard work-out! My position was 3rd like last year. I lost the contact to the winner and the runner-up right at the start.

Adidas performed well. I also bought a pair of Karhu M2’s. Based on a few test runs I must say Karhu will be the choice for winter season but they are not made for racing. Also, my Adidases perfomed quite well against my previous racing shoes, Reebok Premier Competition, taking into account that the Adidases aren’t really desgned for competition. On my test 1K last night I clocked 3.38 and 3.35 with my Adidas set and 3.39 with Reebok in between. I tried to run at easy constant marathon racing speed. My Reeboks are simply worn out; I could feel every little stone on the trail with them. But Adidases just kept on rolling…

Otherwise the week has been very easy. I had a three-day running break (!) because of a lot of stuff at work & home. I really hadn’t time and energy to pull any Ks out. But I remain confident. Next wed will be 10000m on track. My trainee suggested 34 min pace. That would be good for marathon, for sure. But if my teammates go for 33 it might be just too tempting to follow… We’ll see.
