Seek him here, seek him on the highway
Never knowing when he'll appear
All await, engine's ticking over
Hear the roar as they sense the fear
"I had the choice, I either worked in a factory for the rest of my life or I did something different. The advantages of doing something different were obvious."
- Glenn Tipton
Judas Priest means more than heavy metal. There is Metal God, there is dual lead guitars, there is the bike, there is something that has lasted for more than thirty years.
Think about the voice and attitude of Rob Halford. How does one go on for year after year and develop himself all the time?
"I think that rock'n'roll music keeps you young. You look at the Rolling Stones with Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and all those kind of people. As long as your art is valid and important and has meaning, I don't think age has got anything to do with it."
- Rob Halford
My first personal favourite album is Stained Class from 1978. That time they switched to the timeless 'electric' logo and went slowly towards popularity.
In the eighties they made more popular music with guitar synths and stuff until they moved on to hardcore metal with Painkiller (1990), one of the best albums ever made.
"Ideas dry up so something new is the beneficial to longevity if you are going to survive anything."
- Ian Hill
Let us finish with the verses from their number one radio hit back in the 1982:
If you think I'll sit around as the world goes by
You're thinkin' like a fool cause it's a case of do or die
Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had
You think I'll let it go you're mad
You've got another thing comin'
