Short bio Mikko Välimäki is an adjunct professor at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, and a research fellow at University of Eastern Piedmont, Italy. He teaches technology and intellectual property law and is the author of four books on intellectual property. As a CEO Tuxera Ltd, mr. Välimäki leads the business of a software start-up that develops and sells file system components to device manufacturers. He invests also some time to serve as a boardmember to Kutalab Ltd that develops and sells DjOnline, a patented online music distribution system intended for public places. And as a partner of Turre Legal, mr. Välimäki has consulted especially software companies and litigated precedent-setting cases in Finnish courts ranging from technological protection measures (DRM) to file sharing services and electronic voting systems. In the past, mr. Välimäki co-founded Electronic Frontier Finland and was its first chairman in 2001-2003. Mikko Välimäki holds an LL.M from University of Helsinki (1999) and a Ph.D. from Helsinki University of Technology (2005). |
