Yle Extra (a TV channel shut down a week ago) sent weekly these races the last the two months or so. Now I think V\u00e4\u00e4t\u00e4inen had the best sprint ever (Helsinki -71),  Vainio&#8217;s running looked better than  anyone (Praha -78) and Viren was the master of tactics (e.g. Montreal -76).<\/p>\n<p>I also found an interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aamulehti.fi\/sunnuntai\/teema\/asiat_paajutut\/5403843.shtml\">recent interview of Vainio<\/a>. He calls for high mileage,  tempo runs against the time,  and states on heart rate monitors:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nNiiden varjolla harjoittelu muka on tehokkaampaa. Kyll\u00e4 kello on paljon t\u00e4rke\u00e4mpi apuv\u00e4line. Ei kilpailussakaan ratkaise syke vaan aika. I think stop watch is much more important. In race, your time is decisive, not the hear rate.
