There would be a 1500m on tuesday but I’ll only attend if my feet are 100% relaxed. Target would be 4.20 on condition that the weather is ok and the speed is constant. Then there would be a 10000m in the beginning of september. However, that would be just 2.5 weeks before Joutseno marathon, the official national championships where I’ve qualified. My main goal of the season is to run a good result in marathon, not in 10K.

And that brings me into the really long-term. Before the season I thought I will run the marathon under 2.40 and that will be it. I quit. But now I’m seriously reconsidering to continue at least a year or two. I’ve achieved new personal bests in 1/2 marathon and 5000m with such a minimal training. I’m now too curious to know what I could achieve with a solid winter training background with regular 100+ weeks. I did run much more miles during winters when I was under 20. But then I perhaps didn’t know how to do the quality training and in fact achieved my best results during training sessions. After number crunching a few evenings with calculators like this I feel like 2.35 could be possible already this year and it would be definitely possible to go sub-2.30 in a year or two. Aim high.

First some news of the day…. today 8K 28.38 on inva track with Jari. Splits 3.39, 3.43, 3.42, 3.44, 3.26, 3.27, 3.27, 3.26.
