830m!

That’s the Black Mountain Trail total climb up measured with my old Suunto. Lowest point where it starts is at 150m. After just 10 mins of running you get to 350m level. Yes, it means 200m vertical in 10 mins! That’s a pretty steep start. All the way up took today 53.30 where the altimeter shows a bit over 850m. The visions are simply great. The climb went one minute faster than last time but in this kind of training one minute doesn’t count much. Total was 1.36 something back at the car. Avg heart rate 156, max 167.

How does this compare to other uphill routes I’ve done? Just behind the bushes PG&E trail stands at 600m. The one I frequented in Montabone was just around 450m. The uphill route in Tilden Park is around 500m when I measured it in 2006. Anyway, this one is way more. — To put verticals really in perspective compare these climbs to slalom slopes. In Finland, popular Saariselkä has just maximum 180m vertical. The hardest one is Ylläs, which tops at 450m. Here in California Squaw Valley seems to have 870m…

Yesterday 10K in Bayshore where the Labor Day Run was. It is close to our office so a good place for after-work training. The day before another 10K with some hills.
